Lauren Kinkade began her love affair with photography in the color darkroom courses at SVA, and moved to San Francisco to continue her education at the Academy of Art University. In her words, "I came for the food." She graduated in 2013 and has since spent her time tasting, travelling, and taking pictures all over the US and beyond. She eschews traditional food styling tricks in favor of edible, less wasteful techniques to create photos that represent food both beautifully and honestly.

As an active advocate for nutritional awareness and local food, she turns to photography to communicate her ideas, with the conviction that the best way to make someone understand something is to show it.  Her inspiration comes from a love of good food, respect for simple things served artfully, and beauty in minimalism.
